Pink Tricycle

The pink tricycle is a symbol of hope.  It's a reminder that childhood is especially precarious for babies from birth to one year of age.  Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) is the major cause of death in infants from one month to one year of age.

This tricycle was purchased for a little girl named Alexis Claire Martin who died of SIDS at 6 1/2 weeks of age. The Hide 'N Seek Children's Foundation uses this tricycle to represent the childhoods we all hope to see our children enjoy.

If a SIDS death occurs in your family, there are people who can help you through this difficult and heart breaking event. Please call (831) 422-1516 for information orsupport.

SIDS is not preventable, but there are some ways to lower the risk of SIDS:

  • Always place your baby on its back to sleep, even for naps. Make sure everyone who cares for your baby knows to place your baby on its back to sleep.
  • Place your baby on a firm mattress. Remove soft, fluffy and loose bedding and Informationed toys from baby's sleep area. Do not allow smoking around your baby.
  • Don't let your baby get toowarm during sleep.
  • Make sure your baby's face and head stay uncovered during sleep.
